The Ultimate Recognition of Craftsmanship: the title “First Butcher of Belgium”

The Mastery Competition is the ultimate recognition of Belgian butcher craftsmanship. Under the supervision of Minister of SMEs Eléonore Simonet, five exceptional artisans will be awarded. The winner carries the title "Best Butcher of Belgium" for two years.

Participants must submit 4 artisanal meat products: (the specific conditions can be found in the competition regulations)

• artisanal cooked ham on the bone
• artisanal raw ham on the bone
• salami
• Parisian sausage

Competition Details

• Judging: Sunday 28 September 2025; live evaluation by a professional jury
• Exhibition of products: during the 4 days of the fair
• Awards ceremony by Minister Eléonore Simonet: Tuesday 30 September 2025 at 17:30
• Location:
  • Judging and awards ceremony: Hall XXL of Kortrijk Xpo; access via Hall 6
  • Exhibition of products: Inspiration Square Meat (Hall 6)
